urealyticum gives negative
results for all the IMViC reaction, whereas
gives positive result for Urease test. After incubation of the sample the urease slant turns into

DISCUSSION
•The occurrence of
bacteria in sperm samples intended for IVF will affect the outcome of ART
procedure. Effective semen processing procedures should therefore be
implemented to remove bacteria from semen. Unfortunately, technique failure
does occur whereby bacteria can be found in processed sperm preparations. This
happens when the semen samples were infected with bacteria. To improve the
success of the ART procedure, routine analysis of microbial investigation is
performed in the semen samples and subjects were given antibiotic course for a
specific period of time.
•In this pilot study,
we performed semen analysis and microbiological investigation for 58 male
subjects (mean Age = 33), who comes for ART procedure. For overall group, 11
subjects were detected for U urealyticum, 29 subjects were not found to have growth, 18 subjects
were found to have other organism. Based on WHO sperm parameters, 2010, out of
58 subjects, 10 subjects (17.24%) were detected for subfertility. Among the subfertile subjects, 3 subjects
(30%) did not showed microbial growth, 5 subjects (50%) were detected for Ureaplasma
urealyticum, and 2 subjects were
detected for other organisms (20%).
